The Pride of Fox Creek Marching Band had a banner year in 2021, accomplishing several firsts in school history. The band competed in three preseason competitions, earning third place trophies and recognition for High Musical Achievement. Due to an increase in members, the band often performed up in class, competing against tough competitors. Our Fox Creek students rose to the challenge and performed comparably!
The program, “The Outcast” features music by Alanis Morissette, including her #1 hit “Uninvited.” The theme of “The Outcast” is to highlight the feeling of abandonment and not fitting in and the resolution of acceptance. The ballad in the show includes a flute solo by FCHS senior Lucia Solano. Sophomore baritone player, Jon Zook, served as the other soloist in this year's program. In addition, the show features original music by composer, and North Augusta native, Josh Leyda. Leyda has been writing music for Fox Creek High School for three years.
There are ten senior students in the FCHS marching band including: drum major, Andi Howell; flutist, Nazeerah Rahaman; flutist, Shiloh Tew; featured flute soloist (“the outcast” herself), Lucia Solano; french horn player, Peyton Cooper; trombonist, Jadynn McMahon; trombonist, Ben Greene; percussionist, Allo Corbett; color guard performer, Hilda Snodgrass; and color guard performer, Allie Vining. These seniors led the Pride of Fox Creek to the South Carolina Band Directors Association 2A State Finals for only the second time in school history. The ensemble finished the season in 12th place at the SCBDA State Finals on Saturday, October 30th to end their competitive season. The highest ranking in school history!
